Painter in oil, watercolour and gouache, born in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey. He attended Twickenham and Kingston Schools of Art, then for many years was involved in pottery, stoneware and porcelain, having moved to Cornwall in 1960. As a full-time painter from 1984 Blackmore “worked mainly in Cornwall and Provence”. His group appearances included Newlyn Orion and Penwith Gallery, St Ives; RA Summer Exhibition; NEAC; The Discerning Eye, at Mall Galleries; and in 1992 he was included in Artists from Cornwall at RWA. Had solo shows at Nevill Gallery, Bath, and New Academy Gallery. Of his solo there in 2004, Blackmore said: “The bottles, boxes, tin coffee pots and other objects that I paint are selected for their muted or even lack of colour.
