Figurative sculptor working in various materials who was included in Merseyside Artists 3, a Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, touring show in 1986–7. Bews gained a diploma in landscape architecture from Manchester Polytechnic, 1970–4, then a first-class degree in fine art from Liverpool Polytechnic, 1983–6, having worked for eight years for Runcorn New Town Development Corporation as an associate landscape architect. Between 1986–8, Bews had a residency at Birchwood education and leisure centre, from 1988–9 being a part-time sculpture and three-dimensional sculpture tutor at Wirral Metropolitan College. Also exhibited at Norton Priory, Runcorn, May Day from 1984, and Bluecoat Gallery, Liverpool, 1986. Bews completed many major sculptural commissions, in Liverpool collaborating with Diane Gorvin.
