Illustrator and painter whose work reflected his architectural training. He was born and lived in London, studied at South Kensington and the Royal Academy architectural schools, then was articled to Sir Arthur Blomfield, the architect, for several years. His wife was the painter Helen Bedford. E V Lucas, W M Thackeray, Charles Dickens and Oliver Goldsmith were among the authors he illustrated. Bedford was a member of the Art Workers’ Guild and showed at RA, Ridley Art Club and NEAC.
