Painter, potter and teacher. She was born Charlotte Epton and met her future husband, the artist Edward Bawden, at Royal College of Art, marrying him in 1932. After College she studied pottery in St Ives, Cornwall, with Bernard Leach and Michael Cardew, and taught drawing at Cheltenham Ladies’ College, Pate’s Grammar School and helped found Denman College, the Women’s Institute establishment. It and Victoria & Albert Museum hold her work.
