Painter, born at Sarnau, near Bala, Merionethshire. Studied at University of Wales, Aberystwyth, 1974, Chester College of Art, 1975–6, and Cardiff College of Art, 1976–8. Bala’s work could be Expressionist, near-abstract using a rich palette. Mixed exhibitions included National Eisteddfod; Oriel Llangefrai, North Wales; Mid-Wales Open, Aberystwyth Arts Centre; Greenpeace Clean Irish Sea Exhibition; City of Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery; and Café Gallery. Solo shows included Sherman Theatre, Cardiff; Dolman Theatre, Newport; National Gallery of Zimbabwe, Harare; and Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea, 2000. Bala won the National Eisteddfod of Wales Gold Medal in Fine Art, 1997. Lived in Grangetown, Cardiff.
