Artist in oil and pastel who graduated from Bradford Art College in 1998 and within a year was invited to exhibit at the United Kingdom Millennium Show in New York. He continued to study the Old Masters and great exponents of still-life painting. Baker’s own still lifes were notable for their subtle depiction of light. After his first show in London in 1999 Baker exhibited widely in the United Kingdom and abroad, winning a number of awards, including PS. Aged only 23, Baker was invited to exhibit at the United Kingdom Millennium Show in New York and in the same year was appointed official artist of the Professional Footballers’ Association. Many sporting commissions followed, such as the footballer Teddy Sheringham, the boxer Prince Naseem Hamed and the jockey Frankie Dettori.
