Sculptor, painter and etcher, born in Liverpool. He studied at its School of Art, in Paris and Switzerland. Was for a time a lecturer at Regent Street Polytechnic and Chelsea School of Art. Exhibited at RA, Goupil Gallery, Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and in the provinces. Wrote a number of books on sculpture, such as Sculpture, a History in Brief. Work was illustrated in British Sculpture, 1944–1946, by Eric Newton, and William Aumonier’s Modern Architectural Sculpture. Auerbach’s work ranged in style from conventional torsos to his heavily stylized Vorticist Head and decorative panels, as at Davis Theatre, Croydon, in the manner of Eric Gill. Lived in London.
