Painter, notably of landscapes, born in York, who studied at the School of Art there, 1966–8, Liverpool College of Art, 1968–71 and Royal Academy Schools, 1974–7. Two years later Attree began painting full-time, although he did various other jobs such as scene painting at Theatre Royal in Norwich. Exhibitions included RA Summer Exhibition and Serpentine Gallery Summer Show 1 in 1982. Attree was later a resident artist at Dean Clough, Halifax, having a show of his New York drawings in 1996, when he also had an exhibition at Art Space Gallery. In 2003, Hart Gallery exhibited his images of London and New York, part of an ongoing series inspired by various cities. In that year, Bruton Gallery gave him a first New York solo show, other Attree exhibitions including Lea House, New Mill, Holmfirth.
