Artist in various media, born in Gateshead, County Durham, where he continued to live. He studied at King’s College, Newcastle. Showed widely, including Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts of which he was a member, PS, UA, RBA, RWS, RCamA and Paris Salon. Was a member of Univision Group and Gateshead Art Society and was closely associated with Shipley Art Gallery, Gateshead, where he had a solo show in 1952; it holds his work and held a memorial exhibition of his Tyneside shipbuilding and other scenes in 1997.
