Three Bronze Deckchairs

Kevin Atherton (b.1950)

Sculptor and teacher, born in the Isle of Man, who attended the College of Art there, 1968–9, then studied fine art at Leeds Polytechnic, 1969–72. His teaching posts part-time included Chelsea and Winchester Schools of Art, Maidstone College of Art and Middlesex Polytechnic. Apart from work in various exhibitions Atherton did commissioned sculptures, such as the ankle and shoe disappearing into a wall at Langdon Park School in Poplar, completed 1983, and A Different Ball Game, at King’s Hill business park, West Malling, 1994. In the mid-1990s, Atherton was working at Chelsea College of Art & Design on issues concerning virtual reality.
