Painter and teacher whose work showed Cubist influences. He was born in Exeter and worked in Devon until the late 1980s, after which he was based in Cornwall, with periods working in Germany and Australia. From 1988, showed regularly with Newlyn Art Gallery and the Penwith in St Ives, elsewhere widely and was included in Now and Then, David Messum Fine Art, 1997. He had solo exhibitions in France, Germany and Switzerland as well as Britain, later ones including New Millennium Gallery, St Ives, 2004. As part of the Artsound.co.uk project, Nick Roberts of the Coull Quartet performed Broken Contour for Unaccompanied Solo Cello at that gallery, written by James Aitchison and inspired by the paintings. Annear’s wife was the painter Judy Buxton.
