Painter, draughtsman and teacher, born in Glasgow, who studied at the School of Art there, 1935–9. She retired in 1976 after a long teaching career, briefly in Aberdeen and for a long time at Laurel Bank, Glasgow. Was at various times a member of SSWA, Glasgow Society of Lady Artists and of its Society of Women Artists. Specialised in still life, especially flowers, landscape in Scotland and France and early on some portraits. Also showed with Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts and RSA. Had solo shows in Edinburgh and at Pitlochry Theatre and in 1983 at Broughton Gallery, by Biggar. Visited and studied pictures in many continental galleries and admired Bonnard, Morisot, early Chagall, Morandi and Cézanne; William and Ben Nicholson, David Donaldson, Duncan Shanks and Elizabeth Blackadder among modern British artists.
