Abstract artist who worked in a wide range of media, including castings, computers and film. He was born in Liverpool, where he studied architecture at the University for a year before a foundation course at the Polytechnic; Camberwell School of Art, 1978–81; and Royal Academy Schools, 1981–4. Did a postgraduate diploma in advanced printmaking at Central St Martins College of Art & Design, 1989–2. Awards included Aidan Threlfall Trust, travel to Spain, 1981. Richard Ford Award, research in the Prado and other Spanish museums, 1982; British Institution Fund, travel to Rome, 1983; Villiers David Foundation Award, research on pre-Hispanic art in Mexico, 1990; Esmée Fairbairn Charitable Trust, 1995–6; and British Council travel grant for solo show in British Arts Centre, Buenos Aires, 1999.
