New British Sculpture refers to a diverse group of young artists who emerged in Britain in the 1980s. They adopted a more traditional approach to materials and techniques in opposition to the prevailing trend towards conceptual and minimal art. The main artists associated with the movement are Tony Cragg, Antony Gormley, Richard Deacon, Alison Wilding, Barry Flanagan, Rachel Whiteread and Anish Kapoor.
