Collage refers to an artwork made out of disparate pieces of paper or other materials, such as photographs or fabric, that are arranged and glued onto a supporting surface. The term derives from the french verb, coller, which means 'to glue' or 'stick together' and it became particularly popular as an artistic technique in the twentieth century.
