Chairman of Guy’s and Lewisham NHS Trust 1991–1993; Chairman of Generation Trust, Guy’s Hospital 1984–2004. Lord Harris is a businessman and politician and member of the House of Lords. He has worked in carpet retail for over 50 years, most famously setting up Carpetright in 1989. He was knighted in 1985 and made a life-peer in the House of Lords in 1996. He has had a life-long interest in education, having left school at 15. The Harris Federation now runs over 50 primary and secondary schools.
