Edward Cock became assistant surgeon at Guy’s Hospital in 1838, having worked at Borough Hospital. He was a full surgeon at Guy’s from 1849–1871 and then consulting surgeon until 1892. He was also elected President of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1869. From 1843–1849 he was editor of Guy’s Hospital Reports.
