Lawrence Toynbee trained at the Ruskin School, after studying at New College. He was Art Master at St Edward's School, Oxford from 1955 to 1965. He specialised in painting moving scenes such as sports, games and railways. In this picture Reynolds' portrait of Thomas Secker can clearly be seen in the centre of the wall.
