Biblical scene depicting the Raising of Lazarus. Christ stands to the right with his right arm raised in blessing over the corpse of Lazarus slumped in the centre, and held by both a young and old man. In the bottom left corner Mary Magdalen, Lazarus' sister, kneels with her arms crossed over her chest, whilst his other sister Martha stands between the body and Christ, holding up her robe to shield herself from the stink of the corpse. Interested followers stand in the background to the left, and there is a bare bodied young man in top left foreground, leaning forward over the body. Christ, Mary Magdelen and Martha are illuminated in the painting. The corpse is depicted in heavy shadow, his body is a neutral grey colour. The illuminated figures wear clothes rich in tone coloured with shades of red, light purple and gold.
