Sir John Perrot, a natural son of Henry VIII and Mary Berkeley, wife of Sir Thomas Perrot, was born in 1527 at Haroldston, just outside the Borough of Haverfordwest. He was Mayor of Haverfordwest in 1570, 1575 and 1576 and Member of Parliament for Carmarthenshire 1548–1552, for Pembrokeshire 1563–1567 and Haverfordwest in 1588. In 1551 he was High Sheriff of Pemrbokeshire and Deputy of Ireland 1584–1588. In 1591 he was falsely accused of high treason and died in the Tower of London before Queen Elizabeth, who knew he was innocent, could sign the pardon. He was buried there in St Peter's Church. On September 20th, 1580 he executed a Deed of Grant conveying to the Mayor of the Town and County of Haverfordwest and various trustees many houses and parcels of land in Haverfordwest, Camrose and Wolfsdale.
