The Royal Photographic Society was founded in 1853 with the objective of making the art and science of photography more widely available. The international charitable organisation is dedicated to increasing the knowledge and understanding of photography and film, supporting photographers, and inspiring public engagement. The Royal Photographic Society is one of the world’s oldest photographic societies.

Art UK has worked with the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) since 2017, as part of our major sculpture project. The RPS has collaborated with Art UK to recruit Volunteer Photographers and a number of members of the RPS have supported our public sculpture recording programme by photographing sculptures and monuments across the UK.
