You can discover images that are available for image licensing through the main Art UK website and through searching directly on the Art UK Shop.
If there is a shopping basket icon underneath the image on an Art UK artwork page, click on it to find out if you can license that image or purchase a print, through either the Art UK Shop or sometimes through the collection directly. You can also browse the Art UK Shop for images available for licensing.
Images of artworks that remain in copyright have been cleared for use with the relevant rights holders by Art UK. The copyright licence fee is included in the online quote.
Buying an image licence from the Art UK Shop is quick and easy. Just find the image you want to purchase and you can pay online and receive your download within 30 minutes.
If you wish to use a low-resolution image you may find that you are able to do so freely. Please review our Creative Commons guidance page for more information.
I want to license an image which is not in the Art UK Shop. Who do I contact?
If an image is not available through Art UK Shop's automated image licensing service or does not have a Creative Commons licence assigned, then you may be required to ask permission from the copyright holder of the artwork if the artwork remains in copyright (find out how to check on our copyright guidance page).
You may also need to seek consent, and obtain a copy of the image, from the photograph rights holder. Collections generally retain rights in their images: note the image's photo credit.
