The Guardian is one of the UK's leading daily newspapers and news websites. The newspaper was founded in 1821 as The Manchester Guardian. The Guardian is part of Guardian Media Group, owned by the Scott Trust, and is published along with its sister papers The Guardian Weekly and The Observer.

Art UK has been working with Guardian since April 2020 when, at the start of the first Coronavirus lockdown, we partnered on creating The Great British Art Quiz. This was a daily art quiz comprising eight questions that were set each day by a different art collection around the country. In total this ran to 101 quizzes.

In January 2021, at the start of the third Coronavirus lockdown, we partnered with the Guardian on The Great British Art Tour. In this collaboration, a different art collection from around the country told the story behind a particular work of art. Included in this were outdoor public sculptures as well as artworks within collections.
