Art UK is committed to respecting copyright and other intellectual property rights. We make every effort to respect the copyright of the museums, galleries and other public collections who provide us with images of the artworks, as well as any copyright in the artworks themselves. You can read our full copyright notice here.
Art UK’s approach to copyright
Art UK does not own any of the artworks or the images that are shown on the site. Art UK seeks its own permissions to reproduce images from the museums and other collections that own the artworks, as well as from the artists and estates where the underlying works are still in copyright. Art UK also works closely with the Design and Artists Copyright Society (DACS) and Bridgeman Images, who represent a number of artists and rights holders on the site, to secure the necessary permissions.
Missing rights holders
Art UK has made all reasonable efforts to ensure that images on Art UK are reproduced with consent of their copyright holders and the respective collections. However, there are some copyright holders who so far have proved to be untraceable. Any information or queries should be addressed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Art UK takedown policy
Art UK undertakes to remove images if requested to do so by copyright holders. Please see our takedown policy on the Copyright notice page for more details.
