25 years ago, the Jerwood Collection began with the purchase of Sir Frank Brangwyn’s From my Window at Ditchling from Sotheby’s London. To celebrate this anniversary, the Jerwood Collection, together with Sotheby’s, is holding an exhibition of 25 works by some of Britain’s most distinguished artists, from 8 to 12 June 2018.
'Jerwood Collection: 25' will commemorate Jerwood’s legacy of championing 20th- and 21st-century British art and will highlight important pieces from the Collection with works by renowned 20th-century artists. Highlights include:
- Craigie Aitchison’s Crucifixion, which was awarded the first Jerwood Painting Prize in 1994 and subsequently obtained for the Collection
- Christopher Wood’s The Bather painted c.1925–1926, one of the first works bought for the Collection
- Maggi Hambling's impressive portrait of Frances
Rose,purchased directly from the artist
- L. S. Lowry's The Canal Bridge, a work by Britain’s pre-eminent painter of the industrial landscape

The 25-year anniversary of the Collection is an exciting opportunity to celebrate how far it has come, as well as its bright future. The exhibition will run from 8 to 12 June 2018 at Sotheby’s Bond Street (34–35 New Bond Street, Mayfair, London W1A 2AA).
