More about

Situated in the town’s new Heritage Centre area on the waterfront adjacent to the historic Tide Mill, the museum tells the story of Woodbridge and the River Deben and it’s surrounding area by focussing on the lives of prominent local people, from Tudor times to the present day, who had a distinct bearing on the formation of the town. It mirrors the Saxon links of the area at Sutton Hoo, (across the river), the role it played in the Napoleonic Wars, the First and Second World Wars and it’s shipbuilding, milling and sea trading importance throughout the ages to the coming of the railways. It has a shop with a wide range of souvenirs, books and postcards reflecting the local area and pamphlets on the history of the town and it’s inhabitants. Admission is free and the building is suitable to wheelchair access.
