More about

St Anne's stands out in Oxford as a college that is down to earth, modern, informal, inclusive and academically ambitious attracting students of talent and potential irrespective of background. It began in 1879 offering a university education to women who otherwise would have found it unaffordable. It became a full College of the University in 1952. It has taken both men and women since 1979, and is now one of Oxford's largest colleges, with over 400 undergraduates and 250 graduates. All the paintings in the collection have come from gifts or bequests to St Anne’s. It is stressed that the paintings at St Anne's College are not in public ownership. In accordance with the charitable aims of the College, which is a private institution, we are including our paintings on this website to widen public awareness and for the benefit of scholarship. St Anne’s is not open to the public and access is by appointment through the Domestic Bursar.
