About the collection
Whilst the great majority of paintings in the Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums collections are associated with the collection of a particular museum or gallery, there is a small collection of maritime and industrial paintings held at the Discovery Museum which forms part of the Tyne & Wear archives & Museums history collections. This small collection of oil paintings is mostly of ships, shipbuilding and the ubiquitous portraits of worthy gentlemen associated with the two.
