Although displayed on a wall, this oil depicting two winged cherubs each holding a posy of flowers is intended to be mounted on a ceiling. No artist’s name or date is apparent. Painted on a circular two-piece wood panel, mounted in a carved circular gilt border, the work is set in a dark wood square frame. The painting is a 'feigned tondo', a fake circular work of art masquerading as a copy of a famous picture which in reality never existed.The picture is heavily infested with woodworm, particularly apparent around the legs of the right-hand cherub.
