One of a set of four paintings commissioned by William Beckford for The Sanctuary at Lansdown Tower in Bath (now known as Beckford's Tower). Two of the set can be seen in situ in the lithograph after Maddox published in 'Views of Lansdown Tower' by Edmund English in 1844, following Beckford's death in the same year.
