Jaguar Cars took control of the Castle Bromwich Site in Birmingham in 1980 but it was originally built as a Spitfire Factory in 1939. Between 1940 and 1945 the factory produced 11,780 Spitfires and 305 Lancasters making an enormous contribution to the war effort.
