Meg Stevens was a freelance book illustrator until moving to mid-Wales in the 1970s. Here Meg was inspired to spend over seven years painting out of doors recording the changes to the meadow Waun-y-Mynach in Brecon, which was filled with beautiful grasses. Meg began working only on the central panel but found that the subject matter was pulling her towards producing a broader canvas. Each picture is successful on its own as well as working as a group. Stevens is a committed conservationist who uses her work to promote conservationist issues. She only works from life, spending days and weeks at a time outdoors capturing the wild flowers and grasses that are becoming increasingly rare in the British landscape.
