Saving the Queen's Colour at the Battle of Isandlwana, 22nd January 1879. The title assigned to the painting by the artist was ‘Saving the Queen’s Colour’ although the scene shows only one colour and this is the Regimental Colour of 1st Battalion 24th Regiment and not the Queen’s Colour (Union Colour) which was actually saved by Lieutenant Melvill.
