This painting exemplifies the artist’s imaginary landscapes, which she composes from various art historical sources – from Renaissance painting to the Pre-Raphaelites. Drawing from an extensive archive of pictorial images, the artist ‘collages’ together different elements to create highly artificial landscapes that offer viewers a sublime, and at the same time gently amusing, view of nature.
