Rhoda Richards was born Rhoda Cecilia Howell, of Carmarthen; she and Alfred Richards were married at St Michael’s, Bath on 30 January 1812, and had a daughter (baptised on 21 October 1823). This painting is a companion to the portrait of her husband also in the collection of the National Army Museum (197-04-144).
