This is one of a series of 39 paintings produced by Stephen Chaplin based upon his memories of his childhood during the Second World War in Orpington. This crashed ME110 was pulled into position on a trailer. Camouflage netting was erected above it to prevent attack. It was put on display at the Walnuts to raise funds for more Spitfires. The painter visited and sat in the cockpit.
