This seaside scene with people on the beach was painted in 1971 from the sea steps leading to the shore of the artist’s aunt’s cottage. Frances Walker, RSA, was born in Kirkcaldy, Fife, and is a painter and printmaker. She studied at Edinburgh College of Art and taught at Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen. ‘My work,’ Walker says, ‘has a lot to do with people and their environment, also about me in my environment.
