'Comitia' is the name given to meetings of the fellows of the Royal College of Physicians since the sixteenth century. The name is now mainly applied to the annual general meeting of the RCP. This painting is a composite scene painted at several quarterly meetings of Comitia in the Dorchester Library at the RCP's Regent's Park headquarters. Fellows were asked to sit in the same place each time they attended.
