Reginald painted as a child, copying the activity of his father who rarely spoke. He became Secretary of the Art Club at Leeds University whilst an undergraduate. He later taught art as well as history at Harrow High School (an independent grammar school for boys). He did many pen and ink sketches but this is his only venture into oil painting.
