This painting is one of the artist's earlier works. The work was exhibited in the show 'Six Scottish Painters' at the Lefevre Gallery in 1942 and appeared in volume 29 of 'Horizon'. The image shows bomb damage in the area around St Paul's Cathedral. Robert MacBryde was in the habit of changing the spelling of his surname using McBride as well as MacBryde and McBryde during his career.
