Painter, film-maker, writer and teacher, born in London. As a small boy he was evacuated to Carmarthen. Began teaching in 1955 at Hereford School of Art, subsequently becoming principal of Newport College of Art and Design. He was a founder-member of 56 Group and also showed in groups at John Moores Exhibition in Liverpool, Leicester Galleries, SEA, WAC and Royal National Eisteddfod; solo exhibitions included Howard Roberts Gallery in Cardiff, Bear Lane Gallery in Oxford and shows in America. Among his commissioned work was a mural for British Petroleum in London and designs for the publisher Chatto and Windus. Made several films with Spanish subjects, winning a Spanish government documentary film prize in 1972. He was official designer for projects connected with the investiture of HRH The Prince of Wales.
