Watercolour landscapist, born in Etruria, Staffordshire. In 1911 he married Constance Emily Fry, a Quaker, in Ipswich, having lived nearby for some years at Woodbridge, Suffolk. Her brothers Edward Ransome Fry and Robert Douglas Fry were both artists. Wood had worked for Minton’s, the potters, on hand-painted ware for a time and from 1885 had shown with Ipswich Art Club, of which he was a member. In 1911 Wood moved to live near Kendal and was an exhibitor with the Lake Artists’ Society. He also exhibited at RA, RBA, Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and with the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts. Ipswich Museums and Galleries hold four works by him. He is buried in the Friends’ Burial Ground, Kendal.
