Painter, born in Barnes, southwest London, who studied at Central School of Arts and Crafts, later at Farnham College of Art. Until retirement she was mainly a Sunday painter, then had two decades to concentrate on it. All holidays were spent painting, notably the landscapes of Connemara, Kerry and the north of Scotland, and London galleries were regularly visited. Webb greatly admired the work of Anne Redpath. Exhibited at RA, ROI and NEAC and, while living at Petersfield, at the Ash Barn Gallery and the Ashgate Gallery, Farnham. The Ashgate held a show after her death in 1978 and in 1987 Pallant House Gallery, Chichester, put on another. It and Bishop Otter College there hold examples. Webb’s work could have a visionary quality. After an operation for cataracts she experimented with new techniques and colour subtleties.
