Artist who attended Launceston College, 1989–96, did a foundation course at Falmouth College of Art, 1996–7, with distinction, then graduated with first-class honours in painting from Glasgow School of Art, 1997–00. Uglow won many awards, later ones including the John Cunningham and Cargill Awards. Mixed exhibitions included the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, from 1998; Art/Sound Collaboration at The Changing Room, Stirling, and New Scottish Art at Compass Gallery, Glasgow, both 2000; and The Hunting Art Prizes 2002, Royal College of Art. Among Uglow’s solo shows were Guyana Paintings, Assembly Gallery, Glasgow, 1999; and The Edinburgh Gallery and Roger Billcliffe Fine Art, Glasgow, both 2001. Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art, the RSA and Paintings in Hospitals, Scotland, all hold examples.
