Oil and watercolour painter, and poster designer, especially of marine subjects. Studied at Hull College of Art and served in the Royal Engineers in World War I. National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, holds Rodmell’s work, and Ferens Art Gallery, Hull, his typical crayon and watercolour Hull Trawler and watercolour Berengaria’s Last Berth. He exhibited at the RA, RBA, RI, SGA and RSMA, out of London and at the Salon de la Marine, in Paris. He illustrated David W Bone’s The Lookoutman, and his work appeared in a wide range of magazines, such as the Illustrated London News. Rodmell produced effective publicity material for shipping lines such as Cunard, White Star Line and Ellerman. He was made an Hon. Member of the RSMA in 1979. Lived at Hornsea, North Humberside.
