Painter, notably in oil of the landscape around his home in Leyton, east London, who was born in Worcester. Studied at Berkshire College of Art & Design, 1977–8, then gained an honours degree in fine art at Bristol Polytechnic, 1978–8. Won many awards and prizes, including Jeffrey Archer Prize, Royal Festival Hall, 1987; British Council Exhibition Award, 1992; and its Travel Award, 1993. Group exhibitions included The New Painting at Artsite Gallery, Bath, 1984; Whitechapel Open at Whitechapel Art Gallery, 1987; Three Invited Artists, Madler Passage Galerie, Leipzig, 1992; and Towards The Millenium, Museum of London, 1995. Solo exhibitions included Tom Allen Centre, 1987, Austin/Desmond Fine Art, from 1995, Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery, 1998; and Guildhall Art Gallery, 2004, after Perry had taken up a residency at Wysing Arts, Cambridge.
