Self-taught artist, born in San Mateo, California. He gained a bachelor’s degree in history and art from Pomona College, California, 1967. Between 1965–70 Myers had extensive service in sailing ships which he alternated with periods of painting, then moved from California to Devon in 1971 and to Cornwall in 1974, settling at Woolley, Bude. Myers was made a member of RSMA in 1975, in which he held several senior positions; was made a fellow of American Society of Marine Artists from 1979; and a member of Canadian Society of Marine Artists in 1983. He illustrated various maritime books. Seamanship in the Age of Sail, by John Haland, pictures by Myers, appeared in 1984. Participated in many group shows in Britain and abroad. Had his first solo show at San Francisco Maritime Museum in 1967, followed by a string of exhibitions in that area, in North Devon and in Seattle, America.
