Painter, draughtsman and etcher, born in Glasgow, where he attended the School of Art, 1987–91. He won the Armour Prize at the Art School, 1992, and Elizabeth Greenshields Scholarship. Group exhibitions included Van Gogh Self-Portrait Competition, Burrell Collection, Glasgow, 1991; Bath International Art Fair, Edinburgh Art Fair and Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, McLellan Galleries, all 1992; and Scottish Master Prints, Scottish Gallery, Edinburgh, 1993. Solo shows included Compass Gallery, Glasgow, 1992; Scottish Gallery, Edinburgh, 1993; Paton Gallery, 1994; and Duncan R Miller Fine Arts, 2002. Sorcha Dallas, Glasgow, showed a new site-specific window painting in a derelict shop unit in 2005. Mulholland was an artist capable of working at ambitious subjects on a large scale, as his diptych Pier, 1993, at Paton showed.
