Artist whose work included blunt, single-word images, included in dumbpop, Jerwood Gallery, 1998–9. She was born in America, studied at Brown University, 1985–9, then Whitney Museum of American Art Independent Study Program, 1989–90, eventually working in New York and London. Group exhibitions included Curio Shop, Thread Waxing Space, New York, 1992, and Hospital, which she curated, Galerie Max Hetzler, Berlin, Germany, 1997, and Days Like These, Tate Britain, 2003. In that show Morris was represented by Miami, a film/DVD projection, and a painting Pools – Fontainebleau II [Miami], both completed in 2002, which examined the city of Miami and its vibrant life, part of a series focusing on swimming pools. Later solo shows included the Museum of Modern Art, Oxford, 1999, and at White Cube, 2004.
