Figurative artist, illustrator and teacher who attended Northwich School of Art & Design and Manchester College of Art & Design, gaining her diploma in illustration. She became reader in documentary drawing at Liverpool John Moores University and was a member of MAFA, the Printmakers’ Council and Chelsea Arts Club. Among her residencies was one at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals Trust, 1997–9. This resulted in a touring exhibition from University of Liverpool, 1999, and an illustrated book by Midgley: Drawn from Experience. Other exhibitions included Laing Landscape Exhibition, prize winner, London and Salford, 1993; St Helens Open, prize winner, major award, and Printmakers’ Council National Open, prize winner, both 1995; and English Artists, Ekaterinburg Fine Art Museum, Russia, 1997.
